MWC 2010: Hands-on new Acer phones

Recently Acer has become a participant in the world of phones but needs some practice on "officially announcing" the new models. We saw eye to eye with the new Acer Liquid e, neoTouch P300 and P400 and the beTouch E110 and E400.

The Acer Liquid had a fresh-up and is now called the Acer Liquid e. The difference with its predecessor is namely the Android version (2.1 Eclair) and the possibility to record in HD video.

Also new on the Acer stand is the neoTouch P300. It concerns the Touch Qwerty Windows Phone and will have to appeal to the business user. The P300 makes use of Windows Mobile 6.5.3 and is delivered with a load of communication apps. As it is possible to import friends from Facebook, Flickr and Blogger. Acer has a back-up and synchronisation service which automatically makes back-ups of your contacts and itiniraries.

There is also a monoblock version of the above device and it comes in the form of the neoTouch P400. Acer calls this device a "Smart Organizer" and offers mainly the same possibilities as the P300. Hence in a different design. Inside we find a 600 Mhz fast Qualcomm processor which makes the device 'responsive'.

Acer beTouch E110

Even more interesting we think is the beTouch E110. This small device reminds us of the new X10 mini. It also runs on Android, however not all standard Android-functions and apps are available.

The screen is average but according to Acer that's not an issue: the E110 is mainly a 'Fun-phone'! Thanks to the Spinlets you will be able to stream music, create a digital "you" via urFooz and use several fun widgets.

Finally, attention for the Acer beTouch E400. Also an Android device in monoblock design and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It's all about 'fun' here but it has more possibilities than the E110. The processor is more powerfull and it has GPS navigation.

When we may expect the above models in the stores we don't know. Let it be clear that we odn't know the prices either.
