RIM presents BlackBerry Bold 9900

After it was online for some time this weekend on the website of RIM, the maker of BlackBerry, the Canadian company officially presented the BlackBerry Bold 9900.

The device has, unlike its predecessor, the BlackBerry 9780 Bold, a touchscreen. The smartphone can thus be controlled in several ways, because the traditional BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard is is there as well. The touchscreen, due to the presence of the keyboard, is quite small: 2.8 inch.

BlackBerry also purchased the processor at Qualcomm. The Bold 9900 has a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, that should make the device quite a bit faster than its predecessor. With 10.5 millimeters, the Bold 9900 is the thinnest BlackBerry until today. RIM follows the trend of thin smartphones, which was started by other manufacturers like LG and Samsung.
