Samsung launches smartphone with 5.3-inch display

At the IFA in Berlin, the Galaxy Note has just been presented. This phone has a screen that measures 5.3 inches, and it comes with a digital pen to make notes.

The Galaxy Note is presented by Samsung as a whole new kind of smartphone. The device measures 14.5 by 8 inches, quite larege for a smartphone. Nonetheless, as the Koreans do not name it a tablet. The Galaxy Note is nearly a centimeter thick. Striking is the pen that you get with this phone, the 'S Pen’. We already saw this functionality in the 7-inch tablet from HTC, the Flyer. Samsung opts for a similar concept.


The new device has a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, and comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, expanded with the own Android skin from Samsung. The resolution of the screen is 1200 x 800 pixels. It is not yet known when this phone comes to the market. prices are unkown as well.
