Asus has announced a new compact smartphone that can be used with only one finger: the Asus P552w. It's pretty obvious that Asus has looked at HTC's Touch for the design, but there is one difference: the P552 has GPS!

After several cancelled devices we've finally heard some good news from Asus. With the P552w Asus is not aiming at business users, but at a younger public. The device has a lot of features this target group is probably loving, like a RSS reader, Flickr and YouTube integration.

The control of Asus P552w: simple with only one finger

Asus is aiming at simplicity and control; with only one finger! The P552w can be controlled with only one finger thanks to the special developed Gester Glide Interface. This technique recognises among other things zooming, selecting, scrolling and flipping. Asus has built this technique in several applications that are provided with the device, like the news, weather expectations, EziPhoto (photo-diaslider) and EziMusic (music player).

To make sure that the P552w is going to react quicly Asus has provided it with a 624 MHz processor. And in cooperation with the built-in GPS receiver you will always find your way home. The integrated Google Maps gets its information through a 3.5G connection, or if it's possible through a WiFi network.

It is unknown when the Asus P552w will be in stores, just like the expected price. We do know that the device gets available in black and white.
