Motorola has announced two new phones at the CES, which started last night in Las Vegas. The Droid (Milestone) 4 and the Razr Maxx were launched. Both phones run on Android.
The Razr Maxx is a slightly thicker version of the Razr. The Razr was a little thicker than 7 mm, the Razr Maxx is about 9 millimeters thick. For two additional millimeters you get a lot of extra battery power. With 3300 mAh (milli-Ampere-hour, The Razr Maxx runs ahead of smartphones by many competitors. In comparison, the Razr has a capacity of 1780 mAh, and the newly announced Sony Xperia S has a 1700 mAh battery. According to Motorola, the phone can call for 21 hours before a new battery load is needed.
The Droid 4 is the successor to the Milestone 3. Given that Motorola sells the Droid series in Europe under the Milestone monicker, you can assume that phone will be named Milestone 4 overseas. Like its predecessors, the Milestone 4 has lide-Out QWERTY keyboard. The new Milestone has a 4 inch screen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, is 12.7 millimeters thick and has a 1.2 GHz dualcore processor.
Both devices run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Motorola promises an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, sometime in the coming months. The phones are scheduled for release in the US this quarter.
