Google CEO Schmidt: sorry that Nokia chose Windows

Eric Schmidt, the CEO of Google, feels sorry that his company didn't succeed in getting a deal with Nokia. Last week, the finnish company announced that it would bring smartphones with Windows Phone 7, but admitted having considered Android as well.

According to Schmidt, the door to Nokia is still open. He made this statement yesterday, in his keynote at the MWC in Barcelona. Nokia is still the largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world. The battle between Google and Microsoft to get this big fish ended in a victory for Microsoft, leaving Google behind.

Different operating systems

Nokia could consider to bring phones met different operating systems, as HTC, Samsung and LG do. It would cover a larger part of the market by doing so. Moreover, Android and Windows Phone 7 work on the same kind of hardware, so that doesn't have to be a problem for releasing Android handsets as well.
