Windows Mobile 5.0 is the current Windows Mobile version for any user, but the next step to the new Windows Mobile 5.0 Second Edition will be set in the upcoming months. The platform which got the codename Crossbow has got its own face.
A distinctive look that relates to the new PC platform Windows Vista. It has a new glossy title bar, soft keys and will feature Vista-esque folder icons. New enhancements in the new package are a mobile version of Office Communictor, an instant messaging tool for enterprise users and new links with Office 2007 and Exchange 12.
Google cache caught a leaked presentation which indicaties that Crossbow will be released to manufacturer in Q4 2006 ready for release in Q1/Q2 of 2007 and that the next operating system (codenamed "Photon") will be released to manufacturers in Q4 2007 ready for release in Q1/Q2 2008. Photon is also mentioned as Windows Mobile 6.
