Samsung is scaling up production of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 due to high demand

Samsung seems to have a winner on its hands with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Demand for the device is greater than expected. Consequently, Samsung is facing the 'problem' of running out of stock. Factories have been ordered to increase production.

Whereas Samsung previously thought it could get by with 200,000 units per month, that has since been adjusted to 260,000 according to reports from The Elec. Production in August was actually 260,000 units higher than the 170,000 originally targeted. So the thin Fold 7 is in demand.

Samsung may be pleased with other manufacturers who recently bet on extra-thin foldables. This made Samsung decide to also release a very thin foldable, one without S Pen support. In retrospect, that turned out to be a golden move. The other model in the Galaxy Z7 series is also showing strong sales figures. For example, in the month of August, 270,000 sales of the Flip 7 were recorded. The Flip 7 FE does lag behind with only 20,000 sold.

Growing market share

While sales are not in the millions, it is still a boost for Samsung. Indeed, the single device price of a Fold 7 was €2099 at launch. Meanwhile, that price has already dropped to €1440. With this, Samsung seems to be taking another slice of the foldable pie. A pie that Apple has undoubtedly set its sights on as well.
