International version Xiaomi 17 does not get 70000 mAh but smaller battery
The upcoming Xiaomi 17 may come with different battery sizes depending on the region. According to earlier information, the Chinese variant will get an impressive 7000 mAh battery, while the European version will have to make do with 6330 mAh.
This difference of nearly 10% is presumably due to strict European regulations, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. Nevertheless, a 6330 mAh capacity remains above average in today's smartphone market. This is not the first time Xiaomi has released phones with smaller battery capacities outside of China.
What is reassuring is that the fast 100W charging speed remains the same for all variants. So a quick refueling quickly provides many hours of usage time. It is also slightly faster than the 90W fast charging of its predecessor; the Xiaomi 15.
Potential of Snapdragon 8 Elite 5
Xiaomi ships the 17 series with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. On paper, this provides much faster performance that may benefit its many AI features. In practice, it appears that the Xiaomi 17 is only 3% faster than the Vivo X200 Ultra which uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite. So Xiaomi still has some work to do to exploit the chipset's full potential.
