All Oppo phones
Oppo, or Oppo Electronics Corporation in full, is a Chinese consumer electronics company. It is one of the largest manufacturer of smartphones in China and India but little known outside. Because of that large market share in China, Oppo ranked #4 among the world's largest smartphone manufacturers in 2017. Oppo was owned by BBK Electronics until 2023; a multinational company that also owned Vivo and OnePlus. Since then, those are separate companies. Except for OnePlus which merged with realme at Oppo.
Oppo history
The Oppo company was founded in 2001 but did not operate until 2004. It first made Blu-ray and DVD players, then smartphones. Oppo specializes particularly in camera phones. For example, the Oppo N1 was the first smartphone with a motorized rotating camera. In 2018, it released the Oppo Find X with a retractable selfie camera. In addition to camera technology, the company also focuses on fast charging. For example, with VOOC and SuperVOOC, it owns one of the many fast charging technologies for cell phones.
Oppo Netherlands
Despite its great popularity in China, the models are hardly known in the rest of the world. This is slowly changing. First, some Oppo phones were imported to the Netherlands by adventurous web shops. Meanwhile, they are also officially available here from a select group of providers. In early 2019, Oppo announced its partnership with T-Mobile to sell its phones here.
Oppo series
It was not until 2018 before the first Oppo mobiles reached the Netherlands. Back then, the company was already carrying entire series that would eventually never reach Europe. Think of the Oppo F series aimed at the selfie generation, N series with rotating cameras and the K series consisting of gaming phones. The series below did come out here;
- Oppo A series - Entry-level series
- Oppo Reno series - Camera phones
- Oppo Find X series - Premium flagships with innovative features
- Oppo Find N series - Foldables
ColorOS
Oppo uses the ColorOS operating system for its smartphone. This is based on Google's Android and, as its name suggests, is a colorful interpretation of it. The features Oppo has added to ColorOS and the look it has given it makes it very similar to Apple's iOS. You can just download Android apps from the Play Store and Oppo tries to release a new version of ColorOS every year.
