The Samsung Galaxy A04s is a budget model from Samsung's entry-level A series. For relatively little money you get a large & smooth screen, plenty of cameras including a 50MP one, a generous 5000mAh battery and the popular Android operating system. But as always, there's a catch. We sought it out for you.
The Samsung Galaxy A0 series includes the most inexpensive smartphones offered by Samsung. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this A04s is very inexpensive. For relatively little money, you can get your hands on one. Still, you get quite a lot in return. Starting with the 6.5-inch Infinity V screen. That name is a reference to the V-shaped notch for the selfie camera. That one is only 5MP in resolution and lacks features that more expensive Galaxy's do have such as a dedicated portrait function. Very neat about the screen is the higher screen refresh rate of 90Hz. By refreshing images 90 times per second, animations and transitions look smoother. With the competition, you often see a refresh rate of only 60Hz.
On the back of the Galaxy A04s, we see three different cameras. That offering is pretty neat considering its price. Moreover, it is a genuine 50MP main camera that lets you capture a lot of detail and resolution. The other cameras are the familiar macro and depth camera of only 2MP. That resolution is too little to really add much utility, so we'll forget about it for now. Too bad a separate wide-angle camera is missing. This allows you to put more in the picture which is useful for landscape photography or shots in the city where you want to capture extra much. Finally, you shoot video in up to Full HD, also called 1080p.
Power draws the Galaxy A04s from an octa-core processor with at least 3GB of RAM memory. That sounds pretty minimal, though, and it is. To still deliver smooth performance, Samsung applies the more stripped-down One UI Core. That is a special version of Samsung's One UI interface with some features missing. This is necessary to save memory and not overload the processor. Versions have come out with 32, 64 and 128GB of storage but beware; they are not available everywhere. Fortunately, there is the memory card slot so you can easily expand your own memory with a microSD card.
