That’s great if you’re a serious gamer. For anyone who just plays a game now and then, it’s overkill: any modern top-of-the-line model runs mobile games without a hitch. What sets an ROG Phone apart from a regular flagship?
The ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro, the latest generation, clearly demonstrate what the brand stands for.
- Screen refresh rate: the 6.78-inch screen typically runs between 1 and 120Hz, but goes up to 165Hz or even 185Hz during gaming. You’ll notice this most in fast-paced shooters.
- Shoulder buttons: the touch-sensitive AirTrigger buttons on the side act as additional controls, so your fingers don’t block the screen.

Asus has not released any new ROG Phones
The ROG Phone 9 series from November 2024 is the latest generation for now. In January 2026, Asus confirmed that no new phones would be released that year, and CEO Jonney Shih said shortly afterward that the company would no longer be adding new phone models. So, there was no ROG Phone 10. Asus states that software updates and warranties for existing devices will continue. Keep in mind, however, that accessories such as the cooler and cases will eventually become harder to find, and that the trade-in value will be lower than for a brand that releases a successor every year.
