What We Know So Far About the Galaxy S27 Series
Samsung hasn't announced the Galaxy S27 series yet, but renders and supplier rumors are already painting a clear picture: an entry-level model with a familiar design, a new Pro that looks like a more compact Ultra, and an Ultra with a striking new camera design. Below is a summary of the rumors for each model; we’ll keep track of all expected specifications on the product pages.
Which models are we expecting?
- Galaxy S27: According to leaked renders, the entry-level model retains the familiar design of its predecessor; Samsung may switch to a cheaper supplier for the screen.
- Galaxy S27 Plus: it remains unconfirmed whether there will be a Plus model again; this model has not yet been mentioned in the rumors.
- Galaxy S27 Pro: new to the lineup and, based on renders, essentially a smaller Ultra, with the same design language and a similar camera setup.
- Galaxy S27 Ultra: According to CAD renders, the top-of-the-line model will feature a full-width camera island and, along with the Pro, is expected to be the first to feature Samsung’s latest display panel.
The display rumors are noteworthy: Samsung Display has been supplying its latest OLED panels to other manufacturers first in recent generations, and it’s only with this series that the Pro and Ultra models are expected to get that top-of-the-line display themselves. And strikingly for a device that calls itself “Pro”: it’s actually the telephoto camera that’s said to be taking a step backward.
How will the models differ?
According to rumors, the hierarchy within the series will remain as you’ve come to expect from Samsung: size, camera, and display quality determine the ranking.
| Model | Expected positioning | Price range* |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S27 | Entry-level model, most compact size, familiar design | €€ |
| Galaxy S27 Pro | New mid-range model, flagship design in a more manageable size | €€€ |
| Galaxy S27 Ultra | Flagship model, largest screen, and best cameras | €€€€ |
*Expected price ratio within the series, based on the current generation: more € symbols indicate a higher price. Once the series is officially announced, you’ll see current prices in the overview.
One thing you don’t have to worry about: every S27 will, of course, run on One UI with Galaxy AI, and Samsung provides its S series with seven years of Android and security updates. For the S27 series, that’s expected to mean updates through 2034. So the real decision will come down to size, camera, and budget—not software or support.
When will the Galaxy S27 series be released?
There’s no official date yet. Samsung traditionally announces its S series at the beginning of the year during a Galaxy Unpacked event, and there’s no indication that will change this time. If you don’t want to miss the announcement, set up a release alert on the product page for your favorite model: you’ll receive a one-time email as soon as the device is officially announced.
Should you wait for the S27 or go for the S26 series now?
That depends mainly on your current phone. If it’s still working just fine, then waiting is a good option: in a few months, you’ll know exactly what the S27 series has to offer. If your phone is due for an upgrade now, then the Galaxy S26 series is the logical choice: it’s fully featured, widely available, and prices for a generation typically drop as the successor gets closer.
Wait for the S27 series if your phone is still up to the task and you’re mainly curious about the new S27 Pro.
Choose the S26 series if you need a phone right now: same long-term support, available immediately.
