Exclusive: First images show Fairphone 6+ in Cobalt Blue
Our editorial team has obtained the first images of the upcoming Fairphone Gen. 6+. This new, sustainable phone will be available in cobalt blue and appears identical to its predecessor aside from the new color.
In late July, we were the first to bring you the news that the Dutch company Fairphone is working on a successor to the Fairphone 6. This Gen. 6+ would, in addition to more RAM (12GB instead of 8GB), also be released in a new color: Cobalt Blue. And now, after weeks of searching, we bring you the first images of it.

What Fairphone Gen. 6+ in Cobalt Blue looks like
We see the Fairphone 6+ for the first time in this new color and, judging by the images we found, Fairphone is releasing the same accessories available for the Fairphone 6. These are the three:
- Finger Loop
- Protective Case
- Card Holder
In fact, when we overlay these accessories on those of the previous one, the device looks identical. A strong indication that the Fairphone Gen. 6+ will have virtually the same appearance as its predecessor. Importantly: the images we found look like official marketing material from Fairphone itself. This makes it more than just a rumor and may point to an upcoming announcement. Differences must therefore come from within. Aside from the new color, that is.

What will Fairphone Gen. 6+ cost?
What the Gen. 6+ will cost is not yet known. The Fairphone 6 currently costs €519, and with the extra RAM, a slightly higher price is likely. If you are considering a Fairphone 6 now, it may pay to wait for the announcement: the device itself does not seem to change, but those who want more RAM or the blue color will know more soon.
Meanwhile, Fairphone itself is making no secret that new products are coming. Earlier, CEO Raymond van Eck already announced on LinkedIn that two new products are coming. To TechRadar, Van Eck promised those products will significantly stretch expectations around modular and sustainable technology. That raises a question, because extra RAM and a new color stretch very little. Either the 6+ does not count as one of those two products, or there is more to come than these images show.
