Affordable Nokia 5.4 announced with punch-hole display and Quad Camera

HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones, has announced a new model in the 5-series; the Nokia 5.4. It is an inexpensive smartphone with four cameras on the back, a fairly large battery inside and with long lasting Android updates.

The Nokia 5.4 features a 6.39-inch HD+ Punch Hole Display. This means that there is a punch-hole in the top corner for the 16MP selfie camera. It is only the third Nokia model with such a punch-hole; in the 5.3, a notch was still used. However, this solution is increasingly seen as old-fashioned.

For a phone with a suggested retail price of €199, the 5.4 has a surprising amount of 4 cameras on the back. These are a 48MP main camera, 5MP ultra wide angle, 2MP depth and a 2MP macro camera. The lenses are from Zeiss and there are extra video functions to add cinematic effects. The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh which is large but the Moto G8 Power with 5000 mAh has considerably more. Yet HMD Global indicates that the battery life is 2 days.

Nokia 5.4 specifications

Inside, a Snapdragon 662 processor with 4GB of RAM memory can be found with a choice of 64 or 128GB of storage memory. There is also a 6/128GB version but that is not sold everywhere. This processor is not very powerful so we are talking about a modest mid range phone. Another pity is the screen resolution, which does not exceed HD+ of 720 by 1560 pixels. Expect the Nokia 5.4 around mid-January in stores. Expected colors are Polar Night (blue) and Dusk (purple).
