Chinese Huwaei has been trying to gain a foothold on the European market for some time now, so it was time for us to challenge one of their models as well. Our choice fell on the Ascend G6. This is basically the inexpensive brother of the Ascend P6 and was presented early this year. It has a 4.5 inch large qHD screen, 8 megapixel camera and 1.2 GHz quadcore processor. At the front is a high resolution 5 megapixel camera so that you can shoot video calls or selfies with razor-sharp clarity.
The Huawei Ascend G6 4G is a premium designed smartphone also known as the Ascend P7 mini. It is a stylish and thin smartphone with 4G capabilities and with features that will also appeal to the selfie generation.
Business-like but not
Anyone who sees the Ascend G6 4G might think of a business smartphone. This is mainly due to its sleek design that the device has borrowed from its more expensive brother the Ascend P6. Unlike that device, the Huawei Ascend G6 4G is not made of metal but of plastic. This reduces the price and makes it especially suitable for the younger generation that is still looking for a 4G phone.
Selfie capabilities
To accommodate that young audience, there is a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the Huawei Ascend G6 4G. That's a good number of pixels for a self-portrait. There's a voice-activated hands-free mode for shooting selfies. Useful for when you want to stand a little further away. But it is also quite possible to take selfies at very close range and still get enough on the photo. This is due to the wide-angle lens of 88 degrees. This also allows your friends to fit into the picture. Nevertheless, Huawei has come up with something to personalize the device. You can install themes that change all the icons and colors of the menu. There are many different free themes to download. The Huawei Ascend G6 4G runs Android with Emotion UI on top. This allows you to download and use all the familiar Android apps. And because the themes add their own touch to the look, you make the device completely your own.
