Compare the Honor Magic Series
The Honor Magic series is Honor’s flagship line and consists of three models: a classic rectangular model, a foldable model, and a Lite version. We don’t sell anything ourselves, and we don’t earn more from one brand than another: you’ll see the prices from all providers side by side for each model. Compare them below and see what updates Honor has promised for each model.

How do you choose within the Honor Magic series?
This overview includes multiple generations, ranging from the current flagship models to devices from a few years ago. Your first choice, therefore, isn’t about a specific model but about a form factor, and your second choice is about how many generations old your device can be.
What lines are included in the Honor Magic series?
| Line | Form | Position in the series | Update promise | Price range* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magic Pro and Pro Max | Classic rectangle | Flagship; the Pro Max is the largest model | Seven years, starting with the Magic7 Pro | €€€ to €€€€ |
| Magic V | Foldable | Flagship foldable model | Seven years according to Honor; check by model | €€€€ |
| Magic Lite | Classic rectangle | Entry-level model in the line | Not specified | €€ |
| Older and standalone models | Varies | Previous generations and special editions | Check the product page for each model | € to €€€€ |
*Relative price indication within this overview: the more € symbols, the more expensive. See the overview above for current prices.
In addition to the three lines, this overview includes standalone models, such as the Magic6 RSR Porsche Design and older generations. What all models have in common is the base system: Android with MagicOS on top, featuring the Google Play Store and Google services. Where they differ is in their design and support period.
Choose a Pro if you want all the features of a flagship in a standard-sized device.
Choose a V if the large screen is your main priority and you’re willing to accept the series’ highest price point and a visible crease in the screen.
Skip the Lite if support is important to you: those models are not covered by the update promise, whereas Honor has committed to supporting the Honor 400 series has committed to six years.

Foldable or not?
The V models fold open to a tablet-sized screen and are designed for reading, split-screen use, and working on the go. They fall into the highest price range of the series. Additionally, a hinge and a crease remain visible on the screen, and the inner screen is more fragile than the glass on a regular phone and more expensive to replace.
Offsetting these drawbacks, the thinnest models are remarkably slim: Honor lists the Magic V6 as 8.75 mm thick with a 6660 mAh battery. The Pro models retain the classic rectangular shape; the Magic8 generation is also listed separately on the page for the Magic8 series.
How long will a Magic model receive updates?
Honor has committed to seven years of Android versions and seven years of security updates for the Magic series. This commitment begins with the Magic7 Pro, launches first in European markets, and, according to Honor, includes both the classic and foldable flagship models. The Magic Lite models are explicitly excluded, so the name “Magic” is not indicative in this regard.
If Honor has not made a specific commitment for a model, the European minimum standard applies. This applies to models newly launched in the EU on or after June 20, 2025: the manufacturer must then provide security updates for five years after a model is no longer sold and keep replacement parts available for seven years. Details on what has been promised for a specific device can be found on the product page.
Is an older Magic model still a good choice?
It can be, and that’s the most important consideration on this page. A model from one or two generations ago typically drops in price as soon as a successor is released, while the hardware remains virtually the same. What doesn’t change is the support: if you choose a generation prior to the Magic7 Pro, you’ll fall outside the seven-year commitment, and for models released before June 20, 2025, you’ll also fall outside the European minimum standard. So be sure to calculate how many years of support are left for that specific model.
How water- and dust-resistant are the foldable Magic models?
Only the latest generations have a full rating. For the Magic V6, Honor specifies IP68 and IP69: completely dust-tight, protected against submersion, and against water jets. For the Magic V5, IP58 and IP59 are listed, meaning it’s protected against dust rather than fully dustproof. For older V models, the rating is lower or missing, so check the product page for each device.
The Magic Series alongside the other Honor series
The Magic Series is the brand’s most expensive line, and not everyone needs it. If you’re mainly looking for a good camera in a feature-packed device, the Honor N series is often just as good: Honor has committed to six years of Android versions and security updates for the Honor 400 series. If you’re looking for battery life and a large screen for as little money as possible, the X series is the place to start.
The brand’s full lineup is available on the Honor phones page, including older models from when Honor was still part of Huawei. Honor has been an independent company since November 2020, and the models in this overview include the Google Play Store and Google services.
