What is the Xiaomi 17 series?

The Xiaomi 17 series is Xiaomi’s current flagship generation and the successor to the Xiaomi 15 series. There is no Xiaomi 16: the brand skipped an entire number to align with the iPhone 17. This is a marketing decision, not a technical one, and therefore says nothing about how much has changed.

In Europe, Xiaomi introduced the series in late February 2026, with two models: the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The suggested retail price at launch was 999 euros for the Xiaomi 17 and 1,499 euros for the 17 Ultra. You can see what they cost today in the overview above.

The Pro and Pro Max aren’t available here

In China, the series includes more models: the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max were also released there, featuring a second small screen on the back next to the camera. Xiaomi skipped those two models for Europe. Anyone who still wants one will have to import it, with the well-known drawbacks: no Dutch warranty, potentially different network bands, and software not optimized for Europe.

What to look out for

Xiaomi is no longer the budget alternative in this segment. At 999 euros for the entry-level model, the series is in the same price range as an iPhone or a Galaxy S—and with the competition, you’re getting a brand with a more extensive service network. Also note that European versions may differ from the Chinese ones: even before the launch of the 17 Ultra, it was reported that the battery here would be smaller. You won’t have to compromise on updates: devices released in the EU on or after June 20, 2025, must receive updates for at least five years.
