This page shows the Black Friday deals on smartphones where the discount is actually accurate: we compare prices to those from the previous weeks, not to a suggested retail price that no one pays. If a device is listed below, it is currently cheaper than it was during the previous period. We’ve omitted discounts that have actually been running for weeks, or prices that were first raised and then “marked down.”
How can you tell if a Black Friday discount is real?
Look at the “from” price. Since 2022, this must be the Lowest price the store charged in the 30 days prior to the promotion. If a store bases its discount on a suggested retail price or a temporarily inflated price, the discount will appear larger than it actually is. With us, you don’t have to rely on the store: on every product page, you’ll see the price history, so you can see for yourself whether a Black Friday price is truly the lowest.
Here’s how to check a phone deal in three steps
- Check the price history: if the Black Friday price isn’t lower than what the device cost over the past month, then it’s not a real discount.
- Look beyond a single store: the device page lists the current prices from all providers side by side, so you can see if another retailer is selling the device just as cheaply without a promotion.
- Don’t count a free gift as a discount: free earbuds or a smartwatch are only worth something if you would actually buy them.
The biggest real price drops are often on the previous generation. Since the successor was released, the price has already dropped, even though the device will continue to receive updates for years to come. You can see exactly until when on the specifications page.
Black Friday, Black Week, and Cyber Monday
Black Friday is no longer just a single day. Many stores start their sales the week before—often called Black Week—and keep them going through Cyber Monday, the following Monday. So if you don’t find what you’re looking for on Friday, you still have a few more days. After Cyber Monday, you can find the latest offers under phone deals.
Good time if you already know which device you want and the price is below last month’s level.
