Samsung Galaxy Fit models

The Samsung Galaxy Fit is Samsung's affordable fitness tracker: a slim, lightweight band that tracks your steps, heart rate, sleep, and workouts and lasts for days on a single charge. It’s positioned below the Galaxy Watch series and is aimed at those who want to stay active and track their progress without the price, weight, or daily charging requirements of a full-featured smartwatch. Filter by color, price, or features to instantly find the Galaxy Fit that’s right for you.

Help Choosing a Samsung Galaxy Fit

Choose a Galaxy Fit if you mainly want to track your health and activity without any hassle. It’s explicitly a fitness tracker and not a full-fledged smartwatch: you’ll receive notifications on your wrist and can control music, but you can’t install apps or make calls on its own. That limitation is actually its strength, because fewer features mean much longer battery life and a lower price. Read on to find out what to look for.

Fitness tracker or smartwatch?

The most important question isn’t which Fit to choose, but whether a Fit is right for you. If you’re unsure, weigh these two factors.

What should you look for in a Galaxy Fit?

A few factors determine whether a Fit suits your exercise routine:

  • Tracking features: heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen), sleep tracking, and over a hundred sport modes are standard. If you focus on a specific sport, check to see if it’s included.
  • Battery life: according to Samsung, up to about thirteen days with the always-on display turned off, and about three to four days if you keep that display on continuously. That’s a big difference from the daily charging required by a smartwatch.
  • Built-in GPS: the current Fit doesn’t have it. For an accurate running route, you’ll need to rely on your phone’s GPS, so you’ll have to bring your phone with you while exercising.
  • Phone compatibility: the Galaxy Fit works only with Android phones, not with an iPhone. If you have an iPhone, look for a different type of tracker.

Waiting for a new generation?

The Galaxy Fit 3 is the current model, and Samsung hasn’t announced a successor, so there’s no need to gamble on a launch date that’s still up in the air. If you’re mainly missing built-in GPS—the most commonly cited shortcoming of this series—then look right away for a model that does have it. If a new generation does come out, the price of the previous model usually drops, so even then, this model is still worth considering. Not convinced about Samsung yet? Feel free to compare it with other fitness trackers before you decide.
