OnePlus hints at early Nord 6 launch with 9000 mAh battery

OnePlus has posted a cryptic message on its X account, suggesting that the Nord 6 is imminent. OnePlus published an edited x-ray image of a smartphone case, a visual metaphor for "items to declare" at customs. In it, we can see the outline of a phone: possibly the Nord 6.

Next to the image is the text "The Nord era begins soon #OnePlusNord". Historically, OnePlus uses a July cycle for the Nord line. In that regard, a successor to the Nord 5 would arrive earlier than expected.

The X-ray teaser: the internal space shown suggests the use of a compact Silicon-Carbon battery

Despite the X-ray teaser's suggested transparency, OnePlus masks crucial details such as the camera configuration with strategically placed objects. We also see a physically smaller battery than on the Nord 5. That doesn't necessarily mean, by the way, that the battery capacity is lower for the Nord 6. The switch from traditional Lithium-Ion to Silicon-Carbon (Si/C) anodes allows for a higher energy density. This allows OnePlus to offer greater capacity without increasing the size of the housing.

Indeed, there are persistent rumors that the OnePlus Nord 6 will get a battery capacity of 9000 mAh. That's as big as in the already announced Turbo 6. That's no coincidence: the Nord 6 is likely based on the Turbo 6, which is only available in China.

This rebranding is a well-known strategy of parent company Oppo/OnePlus; the Chinese Turbo 6 serves as a blueprint for the international Nord line. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy A57 will presumably stick to a conservative 5000 mAh.

In addition to the Nord 6, a CE model is also expected. The same happened with the Nord 5 series last year. That CE model did not have a global launch, by the way. We expect an April launch.
