POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max announced: Battery capacity up to 8500 mAh

POCO, Xiaomi's sub-brand, today released the X8 Pro series. Both the POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max are affordable phones with dual cameras, but the difference lies in the screen size and battery capacity.

POCO clearly took inspiration from Apple for the naming of the X8 Pro and the X8 Pro Max. But while the names are identical, the prices differ significantly. With a starting price of €399.90 for the X8 Pro and €529.90 for the X8 Pro Max, the asking price is only half that of their current iPhone counterparts.

Sensor Upgrade Despite Retaining Dual Camera

POCO is sticking with a dual camera system, but is making internal upgrades. Both involve a 50MP main camera with a large f/1.5 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Only the image sensor differs: on the X8 Pro, it's a Sony IMX882 while the X8 Pro Max gets a Light Fusion 600 from OmniVision. While both sensors are the same size, OmniVision's is stacked so you have less rolling shutter and can shoot better HDR photos.

X8 Pro: More Compact Body with 6500 mAh

The POCO X8 Pro stands out for its lower starting price of €399.90 and slightly more manageable size thanks to its 6.59-inch screen. The battery has a capacity of 6500 mAh, which is fully charged in 48 minutes with 100W fast charging.

8500 mAh Battery Monster Acts as 27W Power Bank

Those who need more battery should turn to the X8 Pro Max. This contains an 8500 mAh battery that POCO says is enough for two days of intensive use. This battery can also be charged at 100W, but a full charge takes a bit longer. POCO addresses this by only stating the time it takes to reach 50% charge: 24 minutes. Both phones can also charge other products, allowing accessories or other smartphones to be recharged via reverse wired charging at up to 27W. By comparison, this is faster than the standard charging speed of a regular iPhone 16.

The POCO X8 Pro and the POCO X8 Pro Max are available to order starting today in white/black/blue and white/black/mint green, respectively. Those who buy one of the devices before March 31 will receive up to €110 off a model. Compare prices in our comparison tool and never miss a deal again.
