Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Official: Mid-Range Specs in iPhone-Like Design

The British company Nothing unveiled the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro at MWC. The design of this mid-range device resembles Apple's premium iPhone 17 Pro with a device-wide camera island. However, Nothing's device is much cheaper.

Like the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro features an aluminum unibody. Similarities don't end there. The camera island layout is also like Apple's, stretching across the entire width. Nothing also equips the island with the Glyph Matrix, a collection of 137 mini-LEDs that can display battery status, timers, and notifications.

The Pro is clearly focused on camera quality. Nothing uses a Sony LYT700C image sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS). The same sensor is found in Motorola's Edge 60 series and Oppo's Find X8 family, where it has already proven its performance. There is also a 50MP zoom camera with a periscope lens, providing 3.5x optical zoom. The device manages 140x digital zoom, according to the press release. However, this zoom level is unusable in practice due to extreme interpolation (software-based pixel processing).

Although Nothing lists an IP65 certification, which officially signifies spray resistance, the manufacturer claims the device can survive brief immersion up to 25 centimeters for 20 minutes. This is a notable intermediate step that does not meet the more stringent IP67 standard for waterproofing. Furthermore, at 6.83 inches, the screen is slightly larger, the 1.5K resolution is sharper, and the 144Hz display is smoother than before.

Pricing and availability

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip from Qualcomm. This is intended for midrange phones, a category the Pro belongs to despite what its name suggests. The device is priced at €479 for the configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The latter is somewhat meager for 2026. However, a version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is available for $549. Available colors include silver, pink, and black. Expect the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro in stores starting March 27. Pre-orders begin March 13.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro will compete directly with the yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy A57. The latter will likely feature similar specifications and pricing, though the Galaxy lacks the Glyph Matrix on the back.
