New Nokia N-series officialy introduced; N72, N73 and N93
Nokia introduces today their third line of new N-series device. The devices are focussed at fashion and looks in the N72, imaging and blogging in the N73 and video in DVD quality in the N93. Check out the full coverage storage.
Nokia introduces today their new line of N-series. Next to this new set of devices some interesting subjects were discussed that prove that this year it is all about imaging, blogging and video in DVD quality. Let's discuss the new smartphones, which are called multimedia computers by Nokia.
First of all the name that is chosen is quite interesting. Multimedia computers is not directly a name that would be suggested by anybody when they buy a new mobile phone. Smartphones is a better name, but that name is owned by Microsoft. So Nokia is dedicated to use another name; Multimedia computers. Not the most intuitive name around and one nobody will answer or use when buying a new Nokia N-series.
Internet is one of the major point for Nokia. It entered the N-series the last period and will expand the upcoming months. The new browser used in the new N-series and E-series is the best around in any mobile device and will enhance the internet feeling that has become a behaviour and major part of our lives in the last couple of years.
Also blogging pictures and videos to the net are things that will increase the upcoming years. The need for communities is growing and NewMobile sees that too. Nokia offers personalisation and converced devices that can create that community feeling. The complete slogan of Nokia surrounds that feeling and the devices show it.

The major thing is that the step needs to be taken to the point that the mobile device will take over the role of the key player in the community world. The computer has this role now and the expectance is that we will not see a change in that soon. The mobile world, operators and especially the people using the device are not ready for the next step. The first steps in community based options is hardly taken.
Another issue that needs to be addressed is the music subject. Nokia addresses it as a core experience in their N-series, but a clear straight line is not yet set. Devices are claimed to be the best with respect to current MP3 players, but first tests show current music devices score lower than Walkman series and MP3 players. Only the heavy, pricy and buggy N91 shows Nokia's current capabilities.
Let's discuss the new devices from Nokia; the Nokia N72, N73 and N93. The availability of all three is planned in the second quarter, but do not expect them to be around that soon. The releases in several countries will be farther away due to delayed release of the current N-series.

Nokia N72:
The true successor of 7610 is the main true line which can be addressed about this new device. Fashion and looks from the distinctly bold series show a clear device based on what is hot in the market: We buy our phone because we like the looks! Specifications are the second thing! Colours and style are shown in the looks of the device.
Based on the well-known N70 this N72 is the second in line, but positioned lower in the rank of N-series. However it contains a higher number, do you get it? It does not have 3G/UMTS or videocalling and will get a larger memory card in the package. If you prefer specs, stick with the N70. Do fancy looks, take the N72!

We drew on the relationship people have with things that inspire great performances, like the world's finest grand piano or the perfect handcrafted writing pen. "The overall design makes a strong statement for the Nokia N72 as a multimedia computer, but the digital textures, or graphics, on the back add a subtlety of personal ownership, that it is my device," Sermon adds.
