Google shows Pixel 10 Pro Fold in video clip, not expected until Oct. 9

In all the Pixel news lately, Google feels that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has been somewhat underplayed. So they released a video of the foldable device to keep us on our toes.

Also under this video about the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Google put the music of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg; The Next Episode. By using that title track, expectations are high while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold really seems more like an evolutionary improvement.

Now IP68 dust and water resistant

Thus, the successor to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will now be dust-resistant and not just water-resistant. Furthermore, minor improvements are expected such as a slightly larger cover screen and newer Tensor chip. The appearance and number of cameras remain the same.

What is completely new, however, is the presence of Qi2 support. There are several signs that Google wants to use magnets in its Pixel 10 phones, similar to what Apple has been doing for years. Google would be the first major Android manufacturer to copy this move.

Aug. 20 official, Oct. 9 available

However, we do have to be patient for a while to be able to buy the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Although the device will be announced like all other Pixel 10 models on Aug. 20, the new Pro Fold will not come out until Oct. 9, according to a post by Evan Blass on X. What this delay is due to is still unclear. The other models will be in stores earlier, though.

Google is primarily targeting iPhone users ahead of the Pixel 10 Series launch. Google is trying to transition them through Apple's delay of new AI features. Apple has been promising a smarter Siri for over a year but so far fails to deliver. Google has been investing in its smart Gemini assistant for years, which is much more advanced than Apple's Siri.

Whether this strategy pays off should be seen in the fall when Apple announces the iPhone 17 series. Experience shows that when someone is in an ecosystem it is hard to get out of it.
