Exclusive: Google Pixel Watch 5 Colors Leaked: 14 Variants, Two Shades of Gold

The Google Pixel Watch 5 will soon be available in fourteen variants: four colors and two sizes, with and without 4G for each. The editorial team learned this information from a source that has often proven accurate in the past. The most notable new addition is the Pyrite color, which marks the first time Google has included two shades of gold in its lineup.

It was expected that the upcoming Pixel Watch 5 would be available in 41- and 45-millimeter sizes, with a choice of LTE or Wi-Fi only. But now we also know which colors Google has in mind: Natural Silver, Dark Anthracite, Warm Gold, and Pyrite.

The math behind those fourteen variants: four colors, two sizes, and two connectivity options would yield sixteen combinations, but Warm Gold is exclusive to the 41mm model. That rules out two variants.

Two Gold Shades: Google Splits Gold Color into Polished and Matte

Google is sticking with last year’s strategy, with the 41mm model available in four colors and the 45mm variant limited to three. New is the color Pyrite, a gold shade with a matte ('satin') finish. Although this offers aesthetic variety, matte aluminum or steel finishes are more prone to visible scratches and wear marks in everyday use than polished cases. Whether the Pyrite shade exactly matches the color palette of the upcoming Pixel 11 smartphones will become clear during the official presentation.

August 12 Release at Made By Google

The timing of this leak is no coincidence: Google sent out invitations today for a Made By Google event, where it is also expected to present the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series. The watch has already left more traces in recent weeks. For example, it turned up at the U.S. regulatory agency FCC and on the seabed off the coast of Sint Maarten—not the most obvious place to find an unannounced smartwatch.

That FCC report previously revealed that the smartwatch is equipped with UWB, which allows it to be accurately located, and supports the NTN 23 and 255 satellite bands, presumably for emergency communication outside the range of the cellular network. This is not groundbreaking: the Pixel Watch 4 series features the same capabilities. The real innovation may lie under the hood, as rumors about a new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip are gaining traction.

One final note: Google has not officially confirmed any of the above. We will find out what the four colors look like in real life—and what the watches will cost—at the latest during the Made By Google event.
