iPhone users late for work

An awkward bug in the latest version of iOS, the operating system of the iPhone, made the alarm of many European users of Apples phone ring a hour too late. The problem is related to the end of Daylight Savings Time.

The automatic configuration of Daylight Savings Time in the iPhonemade the clock go back one hour, but alarms that have been configured by the user go off an hour too late. Apple knew of the problems. It could be fixed with a software update, but that hasn't happened until now. Those who use the Beta-edition of iOS 4.2 don't have any issues with alarms.

Australia and US

The first time the problems surfaced was last week, when Australia ended DST. Apple was not able to fix the issue since then. There's a possibility that inhabitants of the US will have the update in time. DST will end on November 7th over there, so Appple has a week to prevent Americans to come late for work next monday.

Only with certain settings

According to Engadget, the you don't have the problem when you set the alarm to repeat 'never' or 'every day'. If you choose another option, you'll only get woken on time when you set the alarm an hour earlier then you want it to ring.
