It's time to say goodbye to some nasty old bugs! This week a firmware update for the Apple iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3G S and Nokia X6.
Apple iPhone 3G S, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S - iOS 5.0.1
This firmware should resolve the much discussed battery issues. Also problems with Document in the cloud and Dictation for Australian users should be solved. This update not only affects the newest iPhone, also the iPhone 4 and even the iPhone 3GS are affected.
The biggest fix is of course the battery problems. Many users complained about poor the battery handling causing many rumours about the root of the problem. Hopefully Apple has resolved these issues. We installed iOS 5.0.1. last night and our iPhone 4S still had some juice to spare this morning. You can download the firmware for the first time without iTunes. Just go to Settings > General > Software Update to download and install this update Over-The-Air. The file is about 55,5 MB so it is advised to use WiFi.
Nokia X6 - v40.0.002
An update for the Nokia X6. The device, which was presented in the autumn of 2009, gets a better browser and a new version of Nokia Maps. The browser that comes with the update to the Nokia device the same as the one that can be found in Symbian Anna.
Although this browser does not meet the one on many modern smartphones, it is an update that will be welcomed by owners of the music phone. The update can be downloaded through he Nokia Software Updater. The update will be rolled out in phases, so it may be that you have to wait a while until it comes to your phone.
