Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold succumbs to pressure despite popularity

First Samsung phone to fail JerryRigEverything’s bend test

With the unveiling of the Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung is tapping into a whole new market. There seems to be quite a demand for a three-piece phone. After all, who wouldn't want a phone that you can keep in your pocket and fold up into a tablet? You just don't have to sit on it, it seems.

Because JerryRigEverything's test reveals one major downside of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. Surprisingly, the 3.9 millimeter thin device turns out to be not that strong. Consequently, the device fails Zach's infamous bending test, with the lack of a glass or metal back and breakable antenna lines proving to be the culprit.

Do we think the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is any less cool now? Absolutely not! We think that most owners of the TriFold will not sit on their over €2000 expensive smartphone, but rather drop it. But with a frame made of Advanced Armor Aluminum and a ceramic fiberglass-reinforced polymer back panel, we think you'll be fine.

Scratch at 6-7

The durability test of the TriFold further reveals that the battery is a little too tight to remove without worry. And also the screen scratches again at 6 with deeper grooves at 7. Though that does not apply to the flexible screen that can already be damaged with a fingernail.

The Samsung TriFold remains a phenomenal piece of technology despite failing the bend test. A glimpse into the future and a promising look at what's to come in 2026. And now that we know there is room for improvement we only get even more curious.
