Samsung releases its fully wireless earplugs under the serial name Galaxy Buds. Earlier, the wireless caps came out under the serial name Galaxy Gear, which also includes smartwatches. So since 2019 the caps have their own serial name; Buds.
The first wireless earplugs were the Samsung Gear IconX from 2016. Samsung aimed at a sportive target group that mainly used the caps during sports. For example, they had ear- and wingtips so that they stayed put. Since then, Samsung has released a successor every year, the last few years at the same time as the launch of a new Galaxy S flagship.
AKG cooperation
Samsung has been working with AKG for many years; a company that specialises, among other things, in tuning sound equipment. By the way, cooperation is a disguised description. AKG is part of Harman International Industries which is owned by Samsung. For Samsung's wireless earplugs, AKG ensures that the sound is optimally adjusted.
