Xiaomi 12T product details
The Xiaomi 12T is a high-end smartphone with professional camera in a premium body. But what does that -T stand for? And how does it differ from the Xiaomi 12? And does it still make sense to consider the even more comprehensive Xiaomi 12T Pro? We're going to explain it all here.
Live CrystalRes AMOLED screen
In a nutshell, the 12T is the considerably bigger brother of the Xiaomi 12 thanks to a 6.67-inch screen panel. This is a CrystalRes AMOLED panel with colorful TrueColor display. This allows the 12T to display as many as 68 billion colors, or the full DCI-P3 color palette. HDR10+ content is playable as a result. The screen features a high 120Hz refresh rate for smooth playback and has an extra-high 2K resolution for extra-sharp images. If we have to come up with a downside about the screen it is the maximum peak brightness. With the 12T, that comes out to 900 nits. The Xiaomi 12 goes well over that at 1100 nits. And the brighter a screen can be, the better it is to read outdoors.

HyperCharge for quick pit stops
Other difference from the Xiaomi 12 is its power source. While Xiaomi still shopped at Qualcomm for the 12, for this 12T it has shopped at MediaTek. Inside, we find the Dimensity 8100-Ultra. That's a 5nm-built chipset from the TSMC factory consisting of eight cores up to 2.8GHz. With 8GB of RAM memory, this is a great combination for a responsive device. Reviewers of the device acknowledge that the 12T is very fast. It is also very power-efficient although because of its ample 5000mAh, it didn't even need to be. It is convenient, though, and so is the extra-fast 120W charger. The HyperCharge charger fills an empty battery in just 19 minutes. Xiaomi is clearly ahead of the competition here.

Many megapixels, but no zoom
On the back of the Xiaomi 12T, we find a 108MP tall camera sensor in a remarkably large camera cutout. Xiaomi clearly puts the focus on what's important. The abundance of pixels lets you capture razor-sharp photos and videos, even in tricky conditions. This is partly due to the size of the camera sensor but also to the presence of optical image stabilization (OIS). This allows for faster shutter speeds resulting in sharper photos. Xiaomi further applies an ultra-wide-angle lens and a macro lens. The latter we would have liked to have seen exchanged for a telephoto lens with which you can optically zoom in. Now that can only be done digitally. And if we do complain about missing things, we also want wireless charging mentioned. That feature is also missing, which is pretty crazy for a flagship.
