Firmware Update Friday - Week 31 2011


It's time to say goodbye to some nasty old bugs! This week a firmware update for the Nokia E6, Nokia X7, HTC Desire, HTC 7 Trophy, Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

Nokia E6 and X7 - v022.014

Nokia comes with a small update for two devices running on Symbian Anna, the business oriented E6 and gaming and entertainment-oriented X7. The update is available via Ovi Suite, and will improve stability and performance. You can update your phone using a PC with this software. New features are not included, but better performance makes this update is worth downloading.

Desire - Android 2.3 Gingerbread

As a present for advanced users of the Desire, HTC brings Android 2.3 Gingerbread this handset. This is a release which according to HTC is not intended for the general public, and as such can only be installed through a software tool. If you are eager to install a new version of Android on your Desire, this is your only chance, an over-the-air update won’t come. Download the update via http://developer.htc.com. Before installing, read the enclosed instructions.

7 Trophy HTC - v2250

For users of the HTC 7 Trophy who use the Vodafone network, there is an update, which as usual can be installed through the Zune software from Microsoft. The update brings several bug fixes, which includes the operation of the touch screen and call quality.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and Play - update 2.3.3 for Android Gingerbread

Sony Ericsson launches an update for the Xperia arc and Xperia Play. This update can be downloaded via the PC Companion, and adds some features. There are new themes for the home screen, and the homescreen can now be displayed in landscape mode. Other improvements include xLoud, which should provide better sound through the speaker and the ability to record videos with stereo sound.
