Samsung shows Galaxy Ring, forgets to tell what it does

Samsung seems to be unveiling a new type of product category and has already given a peek at it during Galaxy Unpacked. The Galaxy Ring is worn as a ring, but we don't know much more.

During the unveiling of the S24 series, an entirely new product was shown: the Galaxy Ring. We saw it briefly, but Samsung failed to mention what it does, what it can do, how much it costs, and when it is coming to market.

The Galaxy Ring was shown after a whole story about Samsung Health and its new health features. The ring likely contains various sensors that can be synced to Samsung Health. Similar to the Galaxy Watch. Those who are not comfortable sleeping with a smartwatch at night could use the Ring instead.

Other smart rings

Should the Samsung Galaxy Ring be what we think it is, it is certainly not the first smart ring. Perhaps the best-known competitor is the Oura Ring, already in its third generation. This ring can measure sleep data, heart rate, and temperature.

Should Samsung compete with the Oura Ring Gen 3, it should aim for a suggested retail price of $299. After all, that's how much the Heritage entry-level model costs.
