POCO M8 Series official; M8 and M8 Pro perform longer at higher level

The number of phone launches in 2026 is starting to pick up nicely and we are not even halfway through January. Today POCO launches the M8 series consisting of the M8 and the M8 Pro. Both feature a new design and are designed to deliver top performance for long periods of time.

The POCO M8 Pro is a 6.83-inch smartphone with two cameras on the back; a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle. The pictures of the device suggest that there is a third camera, but that is a design choice.

The M8 Pro further features a larger 6500 mAh Si-C battery with 100W HyperCharge fast charging. Recharging is also possible, and this is via 22.5W. This makes the M8 Pro not only a phone, but also saves your friends' empty iPhones by serving as a power bank. A Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with IceLoop system was chosen for the power source; a liquid cooling system that allows it to perform at maximum power for longer.

M8 Pro praised for audio-visual experience

In the press release, POCO especially praises the audio-visual experience of the M8 Pro. For example, the screen has a maximum peak brightness of 3200 nits, there is HDR10+ support and there are two powerful 1115F speakers with Dolby Atmos support. It does forget to mention that it removed the 3.5mm headphone port, something that last year's M7 Pro still had.

The POCO M8, also announced today, also features two cameras; here, the ultra-wide angle has been replaced by a 2MP depth camera. With the M8 5G, POCO further applies a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. What stands out with this device is the significantly smaller battery capacity compared to its predecessor, the M7, from 7000 to 5520 mAh. As a result, POCO did manage to take 1.2 millimeters off the thickness, making it feel less bulky. There is also faster charging of as much as 45 watts.

The M8 has the advantage over its more elaborate Pro brother that you can expand the memory. By default, the device comes with 256 or 512GB of storage memory, but that is expandable up to 1TB. Either way, you'll have 8GB of RAM. Prices start at €229.90 and go up to €259.90 for the most extensive model. Expect to see the device in stores soon in green, black and silver.

The POCO M8 Pro comes out in versions of 8+256 and 12+512 and will be in stores soon in silver, black and green as well. Prices here start at €309.90 for the model with 256GB storage, while the 512GB version will cost €359.90.
