Google confirms: Pixel 10a will appear on Feb. 18

Google is ending the uncertainty surrounding its latest budget king. In a surprise video message, the tech giant has confirmed the arrival of the Pixel 10a on February 18, 2026. It is still unclear how Google will position the device now that both its appearance and many of its specifications are similar to last year.

Google has also launched a special website where it is accepting preorders of the Pixel 10a. People who sign up for the mailing will receive an "exclusive offer" from the Google Store. What that is is still unknown.

Below are the images shared yesterday by Android Headlines, showing the Pixel 10a in the likely colors Obsidian Black and the striking Berry. And also Evan Blass had found and published images of the 10a in which we see the device with water drops and a camera module still barely protruding from the back.

Pixel 10a also looks like the Pixel 9a on paper

It is more common for Google to then announce or show a new mobile after such a major leak. Whether that was the case this time as well, or because it was simply time, we will never know for sure. We do know a bit more about the future specifications of the 10a. Expect the following specs:

  • 6.28" FHD+ AMOLED display + 120Hz
  • 48MP main camera
  • 13MP ultra-wide angle
  • 13MP selfie camera
  • Tensor G4 with 8GB RAM
  • 5100mAh battery

The observant reader will recognize the same specifications in this as the Pixel 9a from 2025, right down to the processor. Even the future colors more or less match last year's. With this, the Pixel 10a promises to face stiff competition from the now 32% priced Pixel 9a, as well as from other mid-range models such as the Galaxy A56 and the recently announced Redmi Note 15-series.

The decision to stick with the familiar 5100mAh battery and Tensor G4 chip underscores Google's strategy for the a-series: evolution rather than revolution. The gains this year should come not from the specification list, but from Android 16 optimization and new AI features previously exclusive to the more expensive Pixel 10 models.
