Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra European variants with Leica camera released, available immedi

Xiaomi has released international versions of the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra in Europe. The former is already in stores, the Ultra will arrive a little later.

Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi 17 series in late 2025, but the models were previously only available in China. While they were sold as imports, official units are now launching with European warranty and software. Unlike import versions, these support services like Android Auto and Wear OS watch pairing.

The European Xiaomi 17 features a 6330 mAh battery. While this is smaller than the Chinese 7000 mAh variant, charging speeds remain superior to most competitors at 100W wired and 50W wireless.

At 6.3 inches, the Xiaomi 17 is fairly compact for a flagship. The M10 screen panel consumes 23% less power than the Xiaomi 15, according to Xiaomi. The device is also powerful, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm's current flagship chipset.

The Xiaomi 17 features a Leica camera system with a Light Fusion 950 sensor, 5x optical zoom, and AI Ultra Zoom for sharp results up to 20x. The starting price is €999, higher than the import model. Available colors include Venture Green, Alpine Pink, Ice Blue, and Black, with storage options of 256GB or 512GB.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra has also been announced but is not yet in stores. At 8.29mm, it is remarkably thin for an Ultra model. The focus remains on the camera, housed in a stationary circular module. It includes a 1-inch sensor and a 200MP telephoto lens with 75-100mm mechanical-optical zoom.

DxOMark previously tested the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and highly praised the 200MP periscope camera. While photo quality is market-leading according to DxOMark, video performance reportedly still lags behind the Apple iPhone 17 Pro.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected in stores starting March, priced from €1,499 in Starlit Green, White, or Black with 512GB or 1TB of storage.

Leica Leitzphone: Exclusive variant with physical zoom ring

Finally, Xiaomi showcased the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition in Barcelona, branded as the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. It is essentially the same device as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra but features a rotating camera ring for zooming.
