Samsung unveils rugged XCover7 Pro with stereo speakers
Samsung has announced two new rugged products; the XCover 7 Pro phone and the Tab Active 5 Pro tablet. Both have a rugged look and are resistant to weather and harsh environments. But whether that makes them for everyone remains to be seen.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 Pro looks very similar to the XCover 7 announced in 2023. Samsung didn't even bother with a new background.
What is new is the faster Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor but that is offset by a smaller amount of 6 GB of RAM memory. On the back of the XCover7 Pro, we find a 50MP main camera as well as a separate ultra-wide-angle camera. The sound gets an extra boost; this time there are two speakers for stereo sound.

The screen still measures 6.6 inches and the FHD resolution is also unchanged. There is a larger 4350 mAh battery inside this time, which again is self-exchangeable. The entire casing is MIL-STD-810H tested making the device resistant to shock, drop and salt. An IP68 certification is not lacking either which says something about water and dust resistance. It is notable, however, that Samsung does not apply the highest IP69 rating for its most rugged phones.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover7 Pro will come out in black and running Android 15. Expect the device to hit stores starting in April. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro
Samsung also showed the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro; a rugged tablet with removable battery. Expect to find this tablet mostly on the construction site; it is mainly meant for business use. Swapping battery does not mean it has to be off; this is Dual Hot-Swap. So in theory, you can keep working at all times.

The Tab Active 5 Pro also features IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certification, so it can take a beating. The tablet comes with a separate S Pen to control it and take notes with. You will find this in the box. Purchase is possible from April. Prices of this tablet have also not yet been announced.
