Garmin releases vivoactive 6 with 11 days of battery life

Garmin has unveiled its latest health and fitness smartwatch the vivoactive 6. The watch features a higher screen brightness and the battery lasts as long as 11 days on a single charge.

The vivoactive series is characterized by stylish sports watches with a compact screen. The vivoactive 6 fits in nicely among them, especially since it closely resembles the vivoactive 5. Still, there are differences.

These include increased screen brightness and an Always-On option. Garmin still uses an AMOLED panel known for its high color fidelity and deep contrast. The battery of the Garmin vivoactive 6 lasts for 11 days and can then be recharged with the included Garmin cable.

Pulse ox sensor

What's new is that the watch can measure oxygen saturation (SpO2). The watch can do that during the day as well as at night. By coupling that data with that of the heart rate sensor and heart rate changes (HRV), the watch can now also track the menstrual cycle and a pregnancy.

As we have come to expect from Garmin, there are many health features. These include recognition of more than 80 sports, daily workout recommendations and results in easy-to-understand and clear graphs. New is smart wake alarm that wakes you up at the best time via a light vibration.

Smartphone app

Combined with an Android or iPhone, you can also receive text messages, emails and notifications. Users with an Android smartphone can also answer text messages from the watch. Although the 1.2-inch screen won't be very suitable for long replies. There is also Garmin Pay support for contactless payments on the go.

Garmin is releasing the vivoactive 6 in Bone/Lunar Gold, Black/Slate, Jasper Green and Pink Dawn colors for a suggested retail price of €329.9. Expect to see the watch in stores starting April 4.
