MeeGo uses Symbian Anna icons

The latest beta version of MeeGo, 1.2, indicates that the Nokia N9 will run MeeGo, and not on Symbian, as was previously expected. We conclude that based on the loading animation in the OS.

Striking feature of this animation is its form, that fits the shape of a new generation of icons that Nokia launched with the introduction of Symbian Anna. The beta of MeeGo shows that this system is prepared for using these icons. If you paste one of the new icons in the loading animation, you'll see that it fits exactly.

The picture above shows twice the same picture of a part of the screen of the Nokia N900 running MeeGo 1.2. The picture was taken right after pressing the 'calendar' icon, after which a moving border around the icon appeared. On the second screenshot, we pasted one of the new Nokia icons on top of the screenshot. As you can see the icon exactly fits the moving edge.

Symbian or MeeGo?

The new icons, which are characterized by rounded corners so that the form is somewhere between a circle and a square, was one of the reasons that recent rumors emerged claiming the Nokia N9 runs Symbian. These icons were previously spotted in Symbian Anna. Now it seems possible that MeeGo uses this icons as well. The OS on the video, which was removed from YouTube, was more likely MeeGo then it was Symbian.
