Nothing releases teaser of Nothing OS 2.0, intended for Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing is putting the finishing touches on Nothing OS 2.0, the interface that Nothing phones use. Version 2.0 will be announced, possibly simultaneously with the Nothing Phone (2). And we're already getting a brief sneak peek.

Nothing, the company of OnePlus founder Carl Pei, announced the Nothing Phone (1) in July of 2022. We are now almost one year further, and according to previous reports, the Nothing Phone (2) would come out in the summer of 2023. In the meantime, Nothing continues to release snippets of information.

Today the news is about its user interface called Nothing OS 2.0. That sounds like an operating system, but under the hood, it uses Android. Nothing OS 1.0 was built on top of Android 12, Nothing OS 1.5 used Android 13, and we suspect Nothing OS 2.0 will transition to Android 14, though that Android version has yet to come out officially. The teaser comes in the form of a video showing some shapes and colors.

Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing hints at a more customizable interface with numerous animations. Unfortunately, the video does not teach us much more. The wait is for the launch, which should happen "sometime this summer." We'd love to hear whether Nothing OS 2.0 is coming to the Nothing Phone (1) or is exclusive to the Nothing Phone (2).
