This is the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, still unclear what is 'Pro' about it

The renders of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro have arrived. This model is the base model of the S26 series, replacing the S25. The exterior is virtually unchanged as these CAD renders show, but not the interior. However, one thing has remained the same: the slow charging.

The only difference we detect about the S26 Pro is that this time the cameras are placed on a tray. Samsung has done this for some time with the Galaxy Z Fold, the S25 Edge and with some recent Galaxy A models so it is by no means new.

The screen measures a diagonal of 6.3 inches, making it hardly different from the S25, and with that, so do the overall dimensions automatically. There are also still three cameras with a single shooter up front.

What justifies the name "Pro"?

So what justifies the addition "Pro" we hear you thinking? Reportedly, inside there is a slightly larger 4300 mAh battery, an Exynos 2600 chip that is especially faster with AI tasks and magnets are said to be built in to enable Qi2 support. That's a bit thin, though, especially when you consider that rumors talk about charging still at a maximum of 25W. This leaves Samsung even behind the recently announced iPhone 17.

Samsung has been sticking to a maximum of 25 watts for its base Galaxy S phone for 6 years, high time for a change you would think, especially if you change the name to Pro. But who are we?

Samsung still has some time to work on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro; a release is not expected until January 2026. Hopefully there will still be time to take the necessary criticism and come up with a monster of a phone. And even if not, with the necessary software features it may still entice consumers to purchase one. Who knows.
