Appeared specifications Xiaomi 16 give reason for joy

A list of alleged specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi 16 has appeared on X. The vanilla device from the Xiaomi 16 series will get a significantly larger battery without getting significantly larger itself. Something to our delight.

Who wouldn't want a 7,000 mAh battery in a compact smartphone? Xiaomi seems to be delivering soon with the Xiaomi 16, that is if these mentioned specifications are true. They appeared on the timeline of @heyitsyohesh, also known as Yogesh Brar. The entire list reads as follows;

Screen6.3 inches, 120Hz, 1.5K resolution, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition
ProcessorSnapdragon 8 Elite 2
Cameras50MP (Omnivision) + 50MP ultra-wide angle + 50MP (JN5) telephoto
Selfie camera32MP
SoftwareAndroid 16 + HyperOS 3

Previously leaked Xiaomi 16 specs and renders

The mentioned specifications, especially that of the battery, are consistent with previous rumors. Therefore, the 7000 mAh battery does not come as a surprise. Therefore, consider it as confirmation. By the way, we have yet to see if the model of the Xiaomi 16 that will be sold here to come with a 7000 mAh large battery. That of the Xiaomi 15 here was smaller than the Chinese version.

Earlier renders of the device were also leaked, showing similarities to the iPhone 17 Pro that was announced this week. Specifically, the unibody body with a glass back panel. The camera does not stretch across the entire width of the device but sits in a square in the upper left corner.

Xiaomi 16 release schedule

The back is not the only thing Xiaomi is copying from Apple. It is also shamelessly copying the naming scheme. For example, the expected Xiaomi 16 series consists of the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro and the 16 Pro Max. Xiaomi is expected to announce the series in late September. The initial release is expected to take place only in China, with the rest of the world possibly having to wait until early 2026.
