Phone from Xiaomi 16 series spotted, has surprise on back
One month from now, Xiaomi will most likely announce the 16 series, consisting of the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. Images of one of these three are now in, we just don't know which one.
We know that we are looking at a Xiaomi 16 series model below because the wallpaper belongs to HyperOS 3; Xiaomi's latest OS. The first phones to run that new platform are the Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro and the 16 Pro Max. So this is at least one of those three.

It's not the only footage we have of the series. Photos the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max have also leaked and they show something special on the back. A full-width module, just like the Pixel series and the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro series, as well as a secondary display.
Not the first time
As innovative as that one may sound, it is not the first time Xiaomi has done this. The Mi 11 Ultra also had a similar camera island on the back with a secondary screen on top. The mini screen on it was 1.1 inches in size and was also touch sensitive. How big it is on the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max, and how usable, remains to be seen.

Interestingly, the LED flash is not placed on this already large camera island but below it. This suggests that the secondary screen is quite large although exactly how large remains to be seen. Indeed, the photos do not show the screen activated.
We do have more questions, by the way. For example, the photo shows only two cameras while we previously learned that the device has at least three sensors. Thus, we do not see the periscope camera that previous rumors say can zoom past 5x. Either this one is well hidden or we simply don't have the whole picture clear yet.
