Xiaomi copies Apple naming; names next models 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
Copy-paste
We learned earlier that Xiaomi was going to align its phone naming with Apple's, but apparently it could be even more blatant. Xiaomi is skipping the Xiaomi 16 series and announcing the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max this month.
Xiaomi doesn't beat around the bush either; they have been targeting Apple and its successful iPhone series for 5 years. So far, this has resulted in great similarities especially in the software. For example, HyperOS is a near-copy of iOS. Useful for those who want to switch from the Apple ecosystem to Android. With the upcoming series, Xiaomi is adding to it.

In fact, the Xiaomi 15 series will be succeeded by the 17 series and the naming will also go through the copier. Coming next month will be the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, the company announced on Weibo.
First with Snapdragon 8 Elite 5
The device series will see the debut of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 which will thus succeed the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Qualcomm is also throwing over the numbering and skipping some numbers. Xiaomi reveals that this makes the Xiaomi 17 series considerably more powerful but will not be more expensive than its predecessors.
It is obvious that the next Xiaomi models will again feature excellent camera performance. Witness the invitation, they have once again collaborated with Leica. Earlier it was rumored that Xiaomi wants to apply batteries of at least 7000 mAh in size. As a result, te phones will offer significantly more battery capacity than the competition.
Increase in R&D spending
Xiaomi claims to have spent 100 billion Chinese renminbi on R&D over the past five years, something it wants to expand to 200 Yuan for the next five years. One thing we know for sure; this money was not spent on inventing the naming and user interface.
