What’s pro? Samsung may give Galaxy S26 Pro the same cameras as Galaxy S25
Samsung seems to have a new strategy for 2026. Instead of betting on real innovation, they just adjust the naming. For example, despite the promotion, the S26 Pro seems to have exactly the same cameras as the pro-less Galaxy S25.
This would appear from poring over the One UI 8.5 code by @erenylmaz075. The code contains a reference to the imminent Galaxy S26 Pro and its camera specifications. Comparing it to the Galaxy S25, which was released from Samsung still without a Pro designation, we see many similarities.
.So we see the same 50MP main camera there, equipped with a Samsung ISOCELL GN3 (S5KGN3) sensor. That's the same sensor as in the S25. In fact; it's the same sensor as in the S24! Earlier still, it was rumored that Samsung would actually move away from the GN3 sensor, time will tell who was right.
Same trio of cameras
In addition to the main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle (Sony IMX564) and a 10MP telephoto (ISOCELL S5K3K1) are also mentioned. This trio of cameras is identical as in the S25 and, frankly, that seems a little too conspicuous to us. Either the mention in One UI 8.5 is a placeholder, or we are all being fooled.
Because this rumor is not consistent with previous reports, nor does it seem credible if Samsung wants to add "Pro" to the name. Samsung would then make it very difficult for itself should it apply the same cameras. We therefore recommend waiting a while before jumping to conclusions.
