Nokia stops developing Symbian^4


Symbian^4 will never come. Nokia will no longer work on a new version, but wil extend the current version of Symbian. Improvements that were planned for Symbian^4 will be brought as updates for ^3.

Updates that will come include the introduction of HTML5 and improvements in the user interface. Nokia further more will continue developing Qt (pronounce: cute), a framework for app developers. The Finnish company wants to make it as easy as possible to develop for both MeeGo and Symbian. Apps created in Qt will immediately work on both platforms. Speaking of MeeGo, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop had a disappointing message as well: The first MeeGo handset won't come this year.
