Apple patents text message censorship


Apple has plans to allow sensorhip on incoming text messages, for instance to parents who want to protect their teenagers. The new feauture was typed out in a request for a patent.

According to the patent, it will be possible to create a phone administrator. This person can create a blacklist for words. If a word form this list is found in an incoming text message, the message will not be delivered. The new function will not only be suitable for parents protecting their kids, but also for employers who want to keep control over their employees.

Language-based censorship

A second possibility is censorship based on language. In de request for the patent, it is described how a phone could reject messages in Spanish, while only letting English messages get through to the inbox of the phone.
