Is this Sony Ericssons first Windows Phone 7 handset?

Sony Ericsson is planning to create Windows Phone 7 handsets. Impatient fans were hopeful when they saw the first drawings of an alleged Xperia X7 and X7 mini. Unfortunately, the pictures look like they have been created in five minutes.

It may be that Sony Ericsson made some sketches for internal use only. CTO Jan Uddenfeldt last month stated that the Japanese/Swedish company focuses on Android, but is still planning to create a phone that runs Microsofts new mobile operating system.

Sony Ericsson was not with the first manufacturers to bring our a Windows Phone 7 handset. The focus on Android is part of the explanation. Android is more interesting for Sony Ericsson, because the XBOX is integrated in Microsofts operating system. With the PlayStation, Sony is active on the gaming market. With a Windows Phone 7 handset, it will help competitor Microsoft. Some sources say Sony Ericsson is therefore working on its own gaming phone running on Android.

According to the makers of the pictures, the X7 mini has a 3.5 inch screen, like that of the Apple iPhone, so the mini isn't very 'mini'. Its big brother has a 4.3 inch screen, like the HTC Desire HD. The phones are said to be equipped with processors quicker than 1 Ghz.
