Apple iPhone 17th expected in early 2026 with updated camera

The launch of the more affordable iPhone 17e seems to be not far away. The Apple device will be released in early 2026, according to new rumors, and will feature a welcome camera upgrade.

You won't find the updated camera of the iPhone 17e on the back, no, it's about the selfie camera, according to reports. Apple would like to apply the same square selfie camera from the iPhone 17 series. This 18MP sensor can take good photos in both landscape and portrait thanks to its square format.

Apple released the iPhone 16e in February of 2025, so it is not inconceivable that we could see the Apple iPhone 17e announced in the same month. The iPhone -e is the least expensive model in the lineup and appears to be the successor to the iPhone SE series. The model is especially popular with companies that buy iPhones in bulk and want to save money.

Same processor and modem

The iPhone 17e appears to get many components from previous iPhones in addition to an updated selfie camera. Think an Apple A19 processor and the C1 modem that lets you connect to 5G networks on the go. For many of the other features, we can presumably look to the iPhone 16e.

Additionally, it has long been rumored that Apple plans to cut its iPhone launch in two. At the beginning of the year, the entry-level iPhone will then be announced along with the new iPhone -e and Air. Later in the year, the iPhone Pro models will then follow with perhaps a foldable iPhone. This strategy may not go into effect in early 2026 but in late 2026.
