OnePlus may be known for its flagship killers, but its phones are never really small. That may change in late 2024 as the company considers releasing a compact flagship with Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The latest OnePlus flagship is the OnePlus 12 and it features an immense 6.82-inch screen. You don't easily conceal such a size in your pocket. Besides, there are plenty of people where it could be a touch less. And that's why a "compact" flagship from OnePlus is now arriving.
One with a 6.31-inch screen. It is, according to Digital Chat Station, a fully flat screen with a high 1.5K resolution. 'Proof' of this comes in the form of the above post. Although nowhere does it say there that this is a OnePlus phone, but that aside.
Possible in the Ace series
So much for the good news, there is also bad news. According to insiders, it may be an Ace series model, and OnePlus usually releases those exclusively for the Chinese market. One bright spot, however, is that select Ace models will still be launched here under a different name.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is currently used in the most powerful phones. It seems to be Qualcomm's first generation of chips that manages to beat the Apple A18 chip in some benchmarks. Both are manufactured on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process.
Expect to see the Snapdragon 8 Elite soon in several flagships including possibly Samsung's Galaxy S25.
